Italy and Libya foster economic relations with commercial flights

Italy and Libya have taken a significant step towards fostering economic relations by resuming commercial flights after a long hiatus.

After a decade-long break, flight MT522, operated by Medsky Airways, departed from Tripoli’s Mitiga International Airport and arrived at Rome’s Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport.

This historic flight not only re-established the air link between the two countries but also paved the way for more regular connections between the two capitals.

Mitiga International Airport has revealed its plans to launch scheduled round-trip flights, allowing travellers to conveniently commute between Libya and Italy on Saturdays and Wednesdays. This development comes after Italy lifted its ban on civil aviation in Libya that lasted for ten years. As a result, one airline from each country can now operate flights connecting the capitals.
