Hailing from South Africa, Matore is a distinguished legal expert and academic renowned for her extensive knowledge in digital rights, child protection, and internet governance across the African continent.

With a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of South Africa and a Master of Laws (LLM) specializing in Private Law and Sports Law from the University of Pretoria, her academic journey does not stop there.

Matore is currently pursuing a Doctor of Laws (LLD) at the University of Pretoria, focusing her doctoral research on child digital rights, an area of increasing importance in today’s interconnected world.

Championing Child Digital Rights

Belinda Matore’s work centers on the protection of vulnerable groups in the digital age. As a project officer at the Centre for Human Rights at the University of Pretoria, she dives deep into projects aimed at addressing the complexities surrounding digital expression and information rights.

Matore’s advocacy extends to trauma-informed approaches to online activism, underscoring the critical need to prioritize the dignity and rights of victims within digital spaces. Her comprehensive understanding of legal frameworks concerning children’s rights positions her as a leader in digital advocacy.

Beyond her academic and legal efforts, Matore is deeply committed to mentoring and empowering the next generation of legal professionals. In 2022, she co-founded Bathuseng Legal, an initiative dedicated to providing young legal practitioners with access to essential tools and insights.
