The Three Lions of England are through to the quarter-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup after a commanding 3-0 victory over Senegal. Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka, and Foden were the goalscorers for England, who now face a tough test against reigning champions France. England were in complete control of the match from start to finish, and their victory was fully deserved.

England’s dominant performance against Senegal was typified by their ruthlessness in front of goal. Led by captain Harry Kane, England scored three goals to book their place in the quarter-finals where they will face defending champions France. This was a complete performance from England, who will now be confident of their chances of going deep into the tournament.

Senegal started the game well, dictating the pace and creating a couple of good opportunities. England struggled to get into the game and were limited to very little in attack. The game changed in the second half, with England coming more into it and creating more chances. Ultimately, though, it was Senegal who deserved the victory.

In the 31st minute, Senegal had a chance to go ahead 1-0. Boulaye Dia received the ball inside the box and smashed an effort on target, but Jordan Pickford pulled off a superb save from close range to deny him. That was an excellent save, and from then on, England looked like they had finally woken up.

Just seven minutes after that Pickford save, England were ahead. Gareth Southgate’s side made Senegal pay with a superb sweeping move, Harry Kane slipped in Jude Bellingham who had made a brilliant forward run, the Borussia Dortmund man then hooked it across for Jordan Henderson who was on hand to finish emphatically from close range.

The move was started by a piece of individual brilliance from Kane, who picked up the ball in his own half and ran at the Senegal defence before slipping a perfect pass to Bellingham. The young midfielder showed great composure to take the ball past the defender and pick out Henderson with a perfectly weighted cross. The Liverpool captain made no mistake, lashing the ball into the back of the net to give England the lead.

The Three Lions then made it 3-0 in the 57th minute. Foden played a super ball into Bukayo Saka who deftly lifted the ball over Edouard Mendy for his third goal of the tournament.

This was an incredible team performance from England, with every player putting in a shift and contributing to the win. It was a complete performance and will give them a lot of confidence going into the knockout stages.
